Affleck Looking at Two New Comedies for His Next Projects

Ben Affleck, who last conquered the boxoffice as a crime-fighting superhero in Daredevil, is now eyeing a pair of comedies -- the Walt Disney Co.'s Ghosts of Girlfriends Past and New Line Cinema's Sex Talk -- as potential starring vehicles.

Affleck is near a deal to star in Ghosts, pending the hiring of a director, and is attached to Sex Talk. Neither project has been greenlighted yet, and it is possible Affleck could sign on to do both projects.

Ghosts, being produced by LivePlanet's Sean Bailey and Chris Moore with Air Force One producer Jon Shestack, is described as being in the vein of A Christmas Carol and centers on a bachelor who goes to his younger brother's wedding, where he is visited by the ghosts of his past girlfriends. It was written by John Lucas and Scott Moore.

Sex Talk, being produced by Team Todd, centers on a sports reporter who finds popularity by applying sports terminology and strategy to solve the problems people have with their sex lives. It was penned by Tempest Farley and Analisa LaBianco with a rewrite by Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel and is being overseen for New Line by production execs Stokely Chaffin, Renee Witt and Jeff Katz.

Affleck, who has four films on their way to theaters, can next be seen starring opposite his fiancee, Jennifer Lopez, in the Columbia Pictures drama Gigli, set for release July 30. Paramount Pictures' Paycheck, starring Affleck and directed by John Woo, hits theaters Christmas Day.

In February, Affleck again stars opposite Lopez in Miramax's Jersey Girl. Scheduled for a November 2004 release is the DreamWorks comedy Surviving Christmas.
